look — i'm a solo student dev. i don't want your data. i don't have an ads team, i don't have a "growth" stack, i don't sell anything to anyone. this page is just me telling you the bare minimum i actually touch so the thing works.
when you sign in with google, i get your name, email, and profile picture. that's it. no passwords, no access to your gmail or drive.
when you use the extension on an echo360 lecture, the transcript text gets sent to my server so it can answer your questions. i store your chat messages and the replies you get back so they persist between sessions.
i also keep track of your Backbencher credit balance and top-up history so i know how many messages you have left.
your email identifies your account. your chat history is stored so it persists between sessions.
i don't sell your data. i don't run ads. i don't share it with anyone except the services below, which exist because i can't build a payment processor or an AI backend from scratch in my dorm.
from time to time i may send you an email — not marketing, just important updates about the service (things like pricing changes, new features, or if something's breaking). you can ask me to stop anytime.
google — sign-in only. minimum permissions, nothing more.
stripe — handles payments. your card never touches my servers. stripe is pci compliant, they're the grown-ups in the room.
ai providers — your chat messages and lecture transcript are sent to third-party AI providers to generate responses. their privacy policies apply to that part of the pipeline.
your account and chat history stick around as long as your account is active. want it gone? email me, i'll delete everything within 7 days.
a session cookie keeps you signed in. i may add analytics in the future — if i do, i'll update this page before turning anything on.
